IHG One Rewards: Up to 3X points on stays worldwide

IHG One Rewards has announced a new global promotion offering members the opportunity to earn up to three times their base points on eligible stays worldwide during the final quarter of 2026. The bonus applies to stays between 1 October and 31 December 2026.

Key details

• Stay dates: 1 October to 31 December 2026

• Bonus: 2X points on all stays from the second stay onwards; 3X points if booked via the IHG app

• Minimum nightly rate: US$30

• Bonus points post: Within six weeks of an eligible stay

• No cap on bonus points earned

• Exclusions: Award nights do not qualify

Registered members will earn 2X points on all stays, starting with their second stay. For bookings made through the IHG app, the bonus increases to 3X points, also applying from the second stay onwards. Registration for the promotion is required before an eligible stay.

This offer is applicable to all paid nights booked directly through IHG, provided the minimum nightly rate is US$30. Only base points are multiplied by this promotion; tier bonuses remain separate. There is no cap on the total bonus points that can be earned. Award nights are not eligible for this promotion. Bonus points are expected to post to accounts within six weeks following an eligible stay.

Understanding the bonus structure

The bonus earning structure requires members to complete a first stay at the standard earning rate before the 2X or 3X bonus activates for subsequent stays. While this introduces a hurdle, there is no minimum night requirement for any single stay to qualify for the promotion once registered. Members wishing to maximise their earnings should consider a short, inexpensive first stay to trigger the bonus for longer trips.

Opinion

I quite like this promotion from IHG, even though it comes with a few hurdles that seem rather unnecessary. Just make sure to register right away to remove that obstacle. To ensure you get the bonus points, make a note to book any IHG stays through their app. The only thing left to do then is to book an inexpensive first stay, and you'll be all set for 3X points on all your IHG stays for the rest of 2026.

By the way, this promotion can also be combined with the current IHG 'Third Night Free on Premium Rooms & Suites' promotion in Asia-Pacific.
