SWISS unveils new Business and Senator Lounges at Zurich Airport, opening first quarter 2027

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced the opening of new SWISS Business and Senator Lounges at Zurich Airport, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Located near Dock B, these new facilities will cover approximately 2,600 square meters, providing around 20 percent more space than the current lounges.

The new lounges are designed with spacious seating areas, open layouts, and fully glazed window fronts offering panoramic views of the apron, runways, and the Alps. Guests will find additional areas for working and relaxing, including approximately 20 fully soundproofed workstations across both lounges. The SWISS Senator Lounge will feature a bar positioned along the window front, offering a 180-degree view of Runway 34. This lounge will also include a wine humidor and a dedicated maturation room for selected cheeses and cured meats.

The new facilities will replace the existing SWISS Business and Senator Lounges in Dock A. Upon their opening in the first quarter of 2027, the SWISS Business, Senator, and SWISS Alpine Lounges in Dock A will close. Bus gates will be situated directly below the new lounge building, potentially shortening the distance to boarding gates for some travellers. SWISS anticipates relocating its SWISS First and HON Circle Lounge from Dock A to Dock B in 2028, with further details to be announced.

Opinion

SWISS's move to new, larger lounges at Zurich is a practical upgrade, especially considering the upcoming modernisation of Dock A. The promise of more space, dedicated workstations, and improved views is genuinely good news for eligible travellers. Depending on the time of day, some lounges can get extremely busy. I recall leaving one at one point, as there was simply not a single seat to be found in the entire lounge.

Additions to the Senator Lounge, such as the wine humidor and cheese maturation room, are a nice touch, offering a distinct experience that few airport lounges match.

The closure of the Alpine Lounge in Dock A is unfortunate, though, as I always found it to be quite relaxed compared to the other lounges, including the always busy Senator Lounge.
