Google AI Mode integrates reward flight and hotel searches
Google's AI Mode now displays reward flight and hotel night pricing in miles or points for several loyalty programs, with more to follow.

Google has integrated the search for reward flights and hotel nights into the AI Mode of its search engine. Users can now view the mileage or points cost for a flight or hotel stay directly within the AI Mode interface. The functionality supports several loyalty programs at launch, with additional programs expected to be added in the coming weeks.
How Google AI Mode Works
The Google AI Mode allows users to formulate search queries in natural language and refine them with follow-up questions. Users can specify their travel destination, dates, preferred cabin class, and the frequent flyer or hotel program they wish to use. The AI Mode then displays relevant flights or hotels along with the required miles or points.
According to Google, the displayed information is based on the latest data provided directly by participating partners. Once a suitable result is found, users are redirected to the website of the respective frequent flyer or hotel program to complete the booking.
At launch, supported programs include:
Atmos Rewards from Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines
American Airlines AAdvantage
Choice Privileges
Hilton Honors
Wyndham Rewards
Programs announced for integration in the coming weeks are:
Flying Blue
LATAM Pass
ALL Accor
World of Hyatt
Lufthansa Group
Google states that the display of miles and points prices is available in all countries, regions, and languages where AI Mode is supported. However, a footnote indicates that some functions will not be available to users in the European Economic Area. The specific components of the miles and points search affected by this restriction are not detailed.
Lufthansa Group Integration Expected
An integration of Miles & More would be significant due to the dynamic mileage pricing for reward flights with airlines like Lufthansa, Lufthansa City Airlines, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Discover Airlines, and Air Dolomiti. Dynamic pricing means the required mileage varies based on route, travel date, and available fare class. A search tool that clearly compares multiple connections and their mileage prices could simplify the comparison process for users.

Opinion
This is a welcome step towards simplifying the often-opaque process of finding reward redemptions. Integrating loyalty program data directly into Google's AI Mode has the potential to save frequent travelers considerable time and frustration. The accuracy seen in initial tests is promising, especially for dynamic award programs where pricing can fluctuate wildly.
