World of Hyatt has launched an online system for members to transfer points between accounts. This new digital process, live since 15 October 2026, replaces the previous requirement to submit a manual form to Hyatt, thereby streamlining the point consolidation process.
Key details
Live since: 15 October 2026
Cost: Free
Minimum transfer: 1,000 points (in 500-point increments)
Maximum transfer per transaction: 525,000 points
Annual send limit: 525,000 points per calendar year
Annual receive limit: 525,000 points per calendar year
Transfer frequency: Maximum once per calendar month, six times per calendar year
Account age requirement: Both sender and receiver accounts must be at least 60 days old and active
The online transfer system facilitates the movement of points between any two World of Hyatt members at no cost and on a 1-to-1 basis. There is no requirement for a familial relationship or shared residence between the members involved in the transfer. Both the sender's and receiver's accounts must be active and have been established for a minimum of 60 days to be eligible for transfers.
Transfer Mechanics and Limitations
Transfers are initiated via the World of Hyatt website, processed through Points.com. Members specify the number of points they wish to transfer, then enter the recipient's World of Hyatt membership number, first name, last name, and email address for confirmation.
The minimum number of points that can be transferred in a single transaction is 1,000, and transfers must subsequently be made in increments of 500 points. Each transaction has a maximum limit of 525,000 points. Additionally, members are subject to two annual limits: an individual can send and receive up to 525,000 points within a calendar year.
The frequency of transfers is also capped; a member can send points no more than once per calendar month, with an overall maximum of six transfers per calendar year. Points are generally credited to the recipient's account within 24 hours of the transfer. Such limitations make sense for security reasons, as they make it less attractive for malicious actors to hack accounts and steal points. For the average user, however, the limits remain very usable.

Opinion
This is an overdue, practical improvement for World of Hyatt members. The previous paper-form requirement was an unnecessary bureaucratic hurdle, often resulting in slow processing times. While some limits on transfer frequency and volume exist, they are generous enough for most common scenarios, such as pooling points for a high-value redemption.
