Lufthansa Miles & More Devalues Long-Haul Business Class Awards From September 1
Miles & More is raising award prices on long-haul business class by up to 25%. Here is what changes, which routes are hit hardest and what to book before the deadline.

Miles & More has quietly updated its award chart, and the changes are not friendly. Starting September 1, long-haul business class redemptions on Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian metal increase by between 10% and 25% depending on region.
What is changing
Transatlantic business class awards move from 52,000 to 60,000 miles one way in off-peak periods, and peak pricing climbs to 75,000 miles. Asia and the Middle East see similar increases, while economy pricing is largely untouched.
Which routes hurt most
- Frankfurt to the US West Coast: up 25%
- Munich to Southeast Asia: up 18%
- Zurich to South America: up 15%
What to do before September 1
Award tickets ticketed before the change keep the old pricing, even for travel well into next year. If you have a balance sitting idle, this is the moment to lock in a speculative booking — Miles & More still allows changes for a modest fee.
