Garuda Indonesia's loyalty programme, GarudaMiles, is offering up to a 50% discount on miles purchases until 31 October 2026. This promotion allows members to acquire miles for as little as 0.97 EUR cents per mile when buying 30,000 miles or more. Key details
Purchase window: 12 October 2026 – 31 October 2026
Best price: 0.97 EUR cents per mile for purchases of 30,000 miles or more
Maximum per transaction: 150,000 miles
Maximum per calendar year: 250,000 miles
Miles validity: 36 months from crediting date
The discount is tiered. No discount is applied to purchases up to 7,000 miles. A 30% discount is available from 8,000 miles, increasing to 40% from 15,000 miles. The maximum 50% discount applies to purchases of 30,000 miles and above.
Examples of prices per mile at various tiers include:
1,000 miles: 1.94 EUR cents per mile
8,000 miles: 1.36 EUR cents per mile
15,000 miles: 1.16 EUR cents per mile
30,000+ miles: 0.97 EUR cents per mile
Miles purchases are made in USD, with a maximum of 150,000 miles per transaction and 250,000 miles per calendar year. Purchased miles are non-refundable, non-transferable, and do not count towards elite status. They are valid for 36 months from the date of crediting.
GarudaMiles can be redeemed for flights on Garuda Indonesia, SkyTeam alliance members, and other partner airlines like Singapore Airlines, Emirates, and Qatar Airways. However, the programme's utility for partner redemptions is reported to be less transparent than for Garuda Indonesia's own flights, with online availability searches often unreliable for partners. I would not take the risk and hope for award seat availability with partner airlines when they do not reliably show up in search results – that's the classic LifeMiles trap.
The fixed award chart for Garuda Indonesia flights can make specific Business Class redemptions attractive. For instance, a one-way Business Class flight from Denpasar to Sydney or Melbourne costs 54,000 miles, equating to approximately 635 EUR including estimated taxes and fees, based on the 0.97 EUR cents per mile purchase price.

Opinion
This GarudaMiles promotion offers a good rate per mile, but the programme's limitations mean it is best suited for specific, pre-researched Garuda Indonesia Business Class redemptions. If you are often flying to or from Indonesia, this offer might be interesting. Otherwise, I would refrain from buying miles without a specific redemption in mind.
