Air France-KLM Flying Blue is running a promotion offering an up to 80% bonus on purchased miles. This allows members to acquire miles for 1.69 US cents each.
The promotion runs from 27 August to 16 September 2026. To qualify for the maximum 80% bonus, members must purchase at least 50,000 miles in a single transaction (before the bonus is applied). The specific bonus offer may vary by account, and members are advised to log in to their Flying Blue account to view their personalised offer.
Key details
Purchase window: 27 August to 16 September 2026
Cost per mile: 1.69 US cents (when purchasing at least 50,000 miles pre-bonus)
Bonus: Up to 80% (requires purchase of at least 50,000 miles pre-bonus)
Maximum purchase (non-elite): 100,000 miles per calendar year (pre-bonus)
Ordinarily, Flying Blue miles cost as little as 3.05 US cents each without bonuses. Under this promotion, purchasing 100,000 miles, which is the annual limit for non-elite members, would yield a total of 180,000 miles (100,000 purchased + 80,000 bonus) for $3,050, equating to 1.69 US cents per mile.
Flying Blue elite members can purchase an unlimited number of miles. Mileage purchases are processed by Points.com and do not count as airfare for credit card bonus categories.
Miles purchased during this offer may be used to book awards before upcoming changes to the Flying Blue program. Flying Blue will introduce a new three-tiered award pricing system on 8 September 2026, which is reported to impact mile valuations.

Opinion
Another Flying Blue miles sale, just before a significant devaluation. What a coincidence. While 1.69 US cents per mile is a decent rate, especially for long-haul business class redemptions, the looming pricing changes cast a shadow. Dynamic pricing is already a pain, and a new three-tiered system sounds like another step towards making award redemptions less predictable. As always, check availability and crunch the numbers before buying, especially if you're aiming for transatlantic business class, where saver space is reportedly already difficult to find.
