Emirates Unveils New Premium Economy Seat for A350s

Emirates has revealed a new premium economy seat design featuring electric controls and full-height adjustable privacy screens. This updated seat will be introduced on the airline's newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.

The new premium economy seat offers 39 inches of pitch and 20 inches of width. It can recline into a cradle position without affecting the space of the row behind. A key feature is the electrically powered adjustable privacy screen between seats, which passengers can raise or lower via the integrated control unit. These seats also mark the first fully electrically powered premium economy seats in the industry.

Each seat incorporates the newly introduced U-Dream headrest, designed to provide adjustable neck and head support. Additional features include wireless charging capabilities, USB-C charging ports, and a tray table with an integrated phone holder. The 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen monitors remain standard, with newly delivered A350s also featuring enhanced aircraft camera views.

The premium economy cabin on the Airbus A350s will comprise 28 seats arranged in a 2-3-2 configuration across four rows. Emirates currently has no official plans to install this specific product on other aircraft types, meaning existing Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s undergoing retrofit will continue to receive the previous generation premium economy seat.

Emirates’ new premium economy seat looks fantastic, particularly the electrically powered privacy screen and the U-Dream headrest. It is unfortunate, however, that only A350s will receive this product. From a consumer perspective, it is somewhat annoying that airlines often operate with so many different hard products across various routes and aircraft.
